This comes straight out of Prescription Art, who have just opened up a permanent gallery in Brighton over at 1 Beaconsfield Parade, BN1 6DN. Last time I went to a pop-up Prescription Art gallery was a few years back, so it’s great to see they have finally got a permanent space.

The pictures I have chosen to show you today appeal to my love for classic video games. The Prescription Art site has this to say about the work:

“A collaborative project by illustrator Jamie Sneddon and photographer Kevin Rozario-Johnson, 8-bitscapes are thought provoking images that place well loved, iconic characters from the golden age of gaming into real-life scenarios. As a result you will find them munching, invading, racing, battling and bleeping their way around the planet.”

This is one for those who used to push buttons to make light flash on big heavy tellyboxes with tiny screens. Enjoy.

Sunnyside Sessions Vol. 1 by Stewart Noise on Mixcloud

The Sunnyside Sessions are a new series of mixes, showcasing a general vibe of soulful funky jazzy danceable tracks.
It starts out with a super funky opener, before delving into some deep house inspired by italian jazz. It moves into a funky centre piece, with plenty of thick bass and beautiful vocals. A rework of a classic Michael Jackson track ends the funky disco segment, and it flows into a more modern electro inspired segment, before giving way to The Correspondents, with a firm favourite remix of that Jungle Book swinging tune. The set now enters electro swing territory, ending with a cover of Mr. Scruff’s Get a Move On, before I gift you with Luke Ob’s Star Wars inspired track as a cheeky bonus piece to end the set!

Firstly, big thanks to everyone who came to Wonderland. I will be adding the photos to our gallery with a little review of how we felt the night went, but if you can’t wait head to our Facebook page and have a look now!

2012 was a great year for us, we put on 10 events through the year and our move to The Blind Tiger Club was wonderful. The atmosphere of the venue is perfect for Art Noise and the people who came to both our ‘Lost’ and ‘Wonderland’ shows had a great time! 2013 will be a little quieter, with only 2-3 big shows planned in Brighton, however that  does not mean we will be any less busy.

For starters we will be helping Art Noise regulars Them The Sky launch a brand new EP (recorded in the Art Noise hotel itself) and it is looking likely that we will return to Meadowlands as festival support for another year!

And there is talks afoot of hosting a musical showcase in Bognor Regis (our home town), which is still in the early planning stages.

Students at the University of Chichester will be happy to hear we will be helping run an event at the end of term, with a huge emphasis on fun interactivity, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for that one.

Finally, Stewart Noise, our DJ and founder of Art Noise, is playing at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar in Brighton on January 31st as part of the Bongo Fury monthly nights. Facebook event page is here with all the details.

With Wonderland only around 6 weeks away, we have released our poster upon the streets of Brighton. See it inside a copy of BN1 Magazine, and read the rest of the mag while you’re there!

Them The Sky descended on one of the finest venues in Brighton, the Pavilion Dome, and impressed the SOURCE New Music crowd with an amazing show. Art Noise was on hand to film the gig, so watch it above and let us know what you think!

Art Noise is bringing the art and noise back to Brighton this December, with a new exhibition titled: Wonderland. Taking place at The Blind Tiger Club, where we hosted ‘Lost’ earlier this year, on 16/12/12 we will once again be filling the venue with art installations, craft stalls and images from the surrounding areas finest creative people. Then, in the evening, when the sun has set we will be unleashing some fantastic live performance from some old and new faces. Them The Sky are back for their 3rd Art Noise show, with their distinctive sound having recently helped them gain new followers and plenty of bookings (remember, you heard them here first).

The Elevaters join us for the first time, and as huge fans of female vocalists, we couldn’t turn down an opportunity to put them on the roster. They are formed from the depths of the BIMM academy and their often soulful and funky sound should keep you warm on a winters night.

Amongst The Pigeons brings the electronic sound to the show, offering music not too dissimilar to recent Mr. Scruff productions, and his pigeon mask is not to be missed.

Tiny Dragons have been busy lately, and Art Noise first managed to catch glimpse of their fantastic performance at Meadowlands festival this year. Energetic, vibrant music to make you dance. Expect them to be even bigger in 2013.
