Soar through the clouds on this audio dreamscape from Mark Benton and his troop of talented musicians, Seadog. As I Am is hypnotically beautiful, waves of melodies will crash upon your ears as the track takes you on a journey through a glistening soundscape.
As I Am starts as a gentle soothing lullaby, the drums don’t kick in until 1:20 – making a clear transition towards the more driven and compelling second half of the song, peaking around 2:29 with guitar and vocals sailing vividly over you as you listen. It’s soothing in places, but Mark isn’t timid with the composition, making the most of the sound space to deliver entrancing layered melodies sandwiched between gentle rhythms.
Seadog is the project of Brighton-based musician Mark Benton and his revolving roster of musical friends. Seadog are currently a five-piece that combine a variety of influences into a myriad sound of delicate lullabies along with anthemic electric and acoustic textures. Along with the songwriting from Mark, each performer brings their own piece of imagination to the band with melody and sonic ambiance.
